Overview
- Perform radiographic procedures under supervision, ensuring high-quality imaging for diagnostic purposes.
- Utilize independent judgment and technical expertise to apply ionizing radiation safely.
- Collaborate with radiologists and supervisors to maintain optimal patient care standards.
- Provide care across diverse age groups, including newborns to the elderly.
- May perform specialized procedures such as Bone Density exams.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety practices, and radiation safety guidelines.
- Maintain patient records and ensure accurate documentation of procedures.
- Participate in training new staff and attending departmental meetings.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate radiographic equipment to produce quality images adhering to established protocols.
- Assess patients and document relevant information, including medical history and lab values.
- Educate patients about procedures and ensure proper documentation in records.
- Maintain work areas and equipment, addressing processing issues promptly.
- Follow radiation safety practices, including shielding and monitoring film badges.
- Utilize Radiology Information Systems (RIS) accurately for procedure documentation.
- Perform non-technical duties such as stocking rooms and transporting patients.
- Participate in special projects and other assigned duties to support departmental goals.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Science (AS) degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- ARRT Registry certification or eligibility with proof of registered status within one year.
- Proficiency in performing quality radiographic procedures independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Competence in using computer systems and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Preferred: One year of experience in radiologic procedures.
