Overview
- Lead the development and coordination of comprehensive specifications for diverse architectural projects, ensuring technical accuracy and innovation.
- Collaborate with project managers and design teams to integrate specifications seamlessly into project workflows and deliverables.
- Provide expert guidance on materials, assemblies, and emerging technologies to enhance project quality and performance.
- Maintain and update firmwide standards and client-specific design criteria manuals to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Act as a liaison with vendors and product representatives, evaluating innovative solutions and technical presentations.
- Support construction administration tasks, including addressing RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating substitution requests.
- Participate in project meetings to provide technical expertise and ensure successful implementation of specifications.
- Utilize advanced specification tools and software to streamline documentation and integration processes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and maintain project specifications, ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards.
- Coordinate with design teams to integrate specifications into architectural plans and documentation.
- Evaluate and document materials, products, and assemblies for inclusion in specifications.
- Ensure quality control by verifying the accuracy and consistency of specifications throughout project phases.
- Contribute to the development of firmwide standards and manuals, enhancing organizational consistency.
- Collaborate with vendors and industry representatives to assess innovative solutions and technologies.
- Support construction administration by addressing RFIs, reviewing submittals, and managing substitution requests.
- Utilize specification tools such as SpecLink, Bluebeam, and Revit/ACC for efficient documentation integration.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of architectural experience, with a focus on specifications and technical design.
- Professional licensure as a Registered Architect is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in specification tools such as SpecLink and Bluebeam; familiarity with Revit/ACC is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of building materials, systems, assemblies, and construction methods.
- Experience in construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and substitution reviews.
- Understanding of CSI MasterFormat and specification development processes.
- Active involvement or interest in industry organizations such as CSI, ACI, or TCA is beneficial.
