Job Description

Overview

  • Provide clinical supervision and leadership to the patient care team, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and organizational policies.
  • Deliver professional nursing care, including medication administration, patient assessments, and coordination of care interventions.
  • Support patient satisfaction, safety, and quality of care through proactive measures and collaboration with care team members.
  • Manage daily team schedules, PTO requests, and task delegation to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Conduct training, mentoring, and performance evaluations for care team staff, fostering professional growth.
  • Coordinate daily huddles, prepare materials, and review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies within the clinical environment.
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and prepare equipment for patient treatments and examinations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants, ensuring adherence to professional standards and task completion.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, documenting progress notes within 24 hours in the electronic health record.
  • Coordinate patient care plans, considering age-related characteristics and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare for and assist physicians during patient treatments, examinations, and diagnostic testing.
  • Conduct point-of-care tests and review active medication lists with patients for accuracy.
  • Manage clinical supplies inventory and ensure availability of necessary materials for patient care.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations to maintain a high-performing care team.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution required.
  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in hospital or ambulatory settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations, and practices essential for patient care.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record documentation and medical chart reporting required.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently, make clinical decisions, and delegate tasks appropriately.
