Overview
- The Infection Preventionist ensures effective infection control systems within the healthcare organization.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals to manage infection risks and implement prevention strategies.
- Aligns infection control practices with regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Provides education to staff on infection prevention protocols and practices.
- Analyzes infection data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Reports directly to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control.
- Supports hospital-wide initiatives to enhance patient safety and infection control.
- Ensures compliance with CDC, CMS, and TJC standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Monitor and enforce infection prevention policies across all departments.
- Conduct surveillance to detect and monitor hospital-acquired and community infections.
- Analyze infection data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Educate staff on infection control protocols, including hand hygiene and universal precautions.
- Collaborate with health departments for communicable disease prevention and reporting.
- Consult with physicians and staff on managing infectious risks and patient care.
- Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
- Prepare statistical reports and utilize data for infection control strategies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, or Public Health required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- California Registered Nurse license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Nursing, Medical Technology, or Public Health.
- Supervisory or charge nurse experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in CDC, CMS, and TJC regulations is essential.
- Strong knowledge of epidemiological principles and infection control practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
