Job Description

Overview

  • Lead financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with organizational policies and external regulations.
  • Oversee accounting practices, fiscal records, and financial plans, driving operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Supervise accounting department staff, fostering professional development and maintaining high performance standards.
  • Develop and interpret financial analyses to guide management decisions and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Enhance internal reporting systems, providing actionable insights to stakeholders and external institutions.
  • Maintain effective financial controls, ensuring equitable workload distribution and segregation of duties.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for insurance matters, claims, and coverage reviews.
  • Support human resources in benefit reviews, payroll processing, and recruitment for accounting roles.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze operating results, profitability, and budget performance, delivering monthly management reports.
  • Directly supervise accounting staff, managing schedules, performance evaluations, and training needs.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals for planning and compliance activities.
  • Manage accounts receivable, emphasizing timely collection and resolution of past-due accounts.
  • Oversee project billing processes, ensuring accuracy and addressing issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with operations teams on project analysis, cost forecasting, and budget management.
  • Act as the primary contact for software support, resolving processing issues effectively.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, updating departments on accounting concerns and initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or financial management; 10 years preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience at the director level, managing teams and driving results.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in Sage preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments.
  • Experience in managing insurance claims and liaising with external providers.
  • Ability to assist with HR functions, including payroll processing and benefits analysis.
