Job Description

Overview

  • Lead tax operations for a mid-size practice, ensuring compliance and accuracy in corporate, partnership, and individual tax filings.
  • Conduct tax research to identify issues, draft technical memos, and recommend solutions to complex tax challenges.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather necessary data, provide updates, and ensure timely filing of tax documents.
  • Review workpapers and tax returns prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Mentor and train junior staff, delegating tasks and overseeing their work for quality assurance.
  • Support the development of technical expertise within the team and contribute to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and review complex tax filings for corporate, partnership, and individual clients, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct detailed tax research, identifying issues and drafting technical memos with actionable recommendations.
  • Interface with clients to gather necessary data, communicate findings, and provide status updates on filings.
  • Review workpapers and tax returns prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all tax filings meet deadlines and adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and oversee the quality of work completed by team members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in tax preparation and review, with 6 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in tax research and drafting technical memos with actionable solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, partnership, and individual tax regulations and compliance.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior staff, with a focus on technical development.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and communicate effectively regarding tax matters.
  • Familiarity with tax software and tools for efficient preparation and review processes.
