Overview

  • Lead operational effectiveness and efficiency for Birthing Center and NICU, ensuring high-quality patient care and resource management.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to promote participative management and teamwork, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Contribute to long-range planning, recruitment, and retention of qualified nursing professionals to support organizational goals.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and clinical standards to achieve excellence in patient care and nursing services.
  • Influence policies promoting health equity, wellness, and protection against inequity for marginalized communities.
  • Participate in organizational programming and committee work to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards, maintaining licensure and certifications as required.
  • Support professional development for self and nursing staff, fostering growth and skill enhancement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee 24-hour operations of Birthing Center and NICU, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in patient care delivery.
  • Develop and implement strategies for staff recruitment, retention, and professional development to build a skilled workforce.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals and maintain high standards of care.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical practices, ensuring adherence to evidence-based standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate participative management and teamwork among nursing staff, promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation to enhance health equity and wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in organizational committees and councils to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure, certifications, and professional standards to maintain operational integrity.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of nursing experience, including three years in Maternal Child Health, Pediatrics, or NICU.
  • At least five years of demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare settings.
  • Current New York State licensure as a registered professional nurse required.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.
  • Proven experience in council and committee participation to influence organizational strategies.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Commitment to clinical excellence and implementation of evidence-based practices.
