Job Description

Overview

  • Lead estimation efforts for large-scale, complex construction projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive project estimates and execution plans.
  • Analyze bid packages, scopes of work, and client deliverables to identify gaps and request clarifications.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive and quality proposals.
  • Support operations in developing construction methods and equipment utilization plans tailored to project needs.
  • Conduct bid reviews and present comprehensive estimate overviews to management and project teams.
  • Prepare turnover packages and facilitate transition meetings for awarded projects.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review and evaluate client deliverables, issuing requests for information to clarify scope gaps and requirements.
  • Develop and manage estimate schedules, assigning tasks and tracking progress.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, ensuring alignment with project needs.
  • Collaborate with operations to align estimates with construction execution plans and productivity benchmarks.
  • Prepare and present detailed basis of estimates, highlighting key assumptions and strategies.
  • Compile comprehensive bid submittal packages, including cover letters, qualifications, and breakdowns.
  • Assist project managers with subcontractor and vendor negotiations, ensuring optimal contract terms.
  • Conduct field change order estimates and support project teams with scope adjustments.
  • Maintain expert knowledge in subcontractor and vendor scope requirements, providing validation support.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction estimating, with 13 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in multi-discipline estimating for large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment utilization, and productivity planning.
  • Experience with bid preparation, proposal documentation, and subcontractor/vendor management.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills to present estimates and strategies effectively.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for bid meetings, site visits, and contract negotiations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Excel and Primavera (P6).
