Overview
- Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals in the Family Law practice group.
- Coordinate case management activities, ensuring accuracy and organization of electronic and physical files.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and court filings.
- Manage attorney calendars, scheduling court appearances, depositions, and client meetings.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
- Support attorneys during trials, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Handle sensitive and confidential client matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Assist with billing materials, client invoicing, and timekeeping tasks.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and file legal documents electronically and in person with state and federal courts.
- Coordinate and maintain case files, ensuring compliance with court requirements.
- Draft routine correspondence and legal forms for attorney review.
- Monitor case deadlines and maintain docketing systems.
- Assist with the preparation of trial binders, hearing materials, and exhibits.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, courier deliveries, and service of legal documents.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and expense reimbursements.
- Support attorneys during trials, mediations, and settlement conferences.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or legal secretary certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal secretarial experience, preferably within Family Law.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and electronic court filing systems.
- Strong typing, proofreading, and document formatting skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
