Overview
- Provide therapeutic music interventions to enhance residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
- Conduct assessments to identify residents' musical interests and therapeutic needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans.
- Design and implement engaging music programs and facility-wide events.
- Provide one-on-one music therapy sessions tailored to individual preferences.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Mentor and guide interns, volunteers, and aides in therapeutic recreation practices.
- Plan and accompany residents on recreational outings and events.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct assessments to determine residents' recreational and musical needs.
- Develop and implement monthly schedules of therapeutic music activities.
- Lead group music therapy sessions and individual interventions.
- Coordinate and participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
- Prepare and manage supplies for music therapy programs.
- Provide adaptive interventions to maximize resident participation.
- Mentor and oversee therapeutic recreation aides and volunteers.
- Maintain accurate attendance logs and clinical records.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines for therapeutic recreation services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience with geriatric populations or equivalent education.
- Certified Music Therapist or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist preferred.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices and regulations.
- Ability to plan and execute engaging music therapy programs.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed.
