Overview
- Provide therapeutic music and recreation services to enhance residents' physical, social, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
- Conduct individual assessments to identify recreational needs and preferences of residents and patients.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Design and execute monthly schedules of therapeutic music and leisure activities.
- Coordinate and lead facility-wide events and specialized music programs.
- Mentor and guide interns, volunteers, and aides in therapeutic recreation practices.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct assessments and reassessments to determine recreational needs and interests of residents.
- Develop and distribute monthly activity calendars tailored to resident preferences.
- Plan and execute therapeutic music programs and leisure activities.
- Provide adaptive interventions to maximize resident participation in activities.
- Coordinate transportation and escort services for residents attending events.
- Guide and mentor recreation aides, interns, and volunteers.
- Maintain accurate attendance logs and clinical records for assigned residents.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines for therapeutic recreation services.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings to develop comprehensive care strategies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, or music therapy preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience with geriatric populations or equivalent education and experience.
- Licensed Creative Arts Therapist or Certified Music Therapist strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing therapeutic music and recreation programs.
- Strong documentation skills with adherence to regulatory standards.
- Ability to mentor and guide interns, volunteers, and aides effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster relationships with residents, families, and staff.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules to meet operational needs.
