Job Description

Overview

  • Provide therapeutic music and recreation services to enhance residents' physical, social, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
  • Conduct individual assessments to identify recreational needs and preferences of residents and patients.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Design and execute monthly schedules of therapeutic music and leisure activities.
  • Coordinate and lead facility-wide events and specialized music programs.
  • Mentor and guide interns, volunteers, and aides in therapeutic recreation practices.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct assessments and reassessments to determine recreational needs and interests of residents.
  • Develop and distribute monthly activity calendars tailored to resident preferences.
  • Plan and execute therapeutic music programs and leisure activities.
  • Provide adaptive interventions to maximize resident participation in activities.
  • Coordinate transportation and escort services for residents attending events.
  • Guide and mentor recreation aides, interns, and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate attendance logs and clinical records for assigned residents.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines for therapeutic recreation services.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings to develop comprehensive care strategies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, or music therapy preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with geriatric populations or equivalent education and experience.
  • Licensed Creative Arts Therapist or Certified Music Therapist strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing therapeutic music and recreation programs.
  • Strong documentation skills with adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Ability to mentor and guide interns, volunteers, and aides effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster relationships with residents, families, and staff.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules to meet operational needs.
