Overview
- Provide therapeutic music interventions to enhance residents' physical, social, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
- Conduct individual assessments to identify residents' music-related interests and therapeutic needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute music therapy programs and facility-wide events.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Provide adaptive music interventions to maximize resident participation and engagement.
- Mentor and guide staff, interns, and volunteers in therapeutic recreation practices.
- Ensure timely communication and coordination for recreational outings and events.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct assessments and reassessments to determine residents' music therapy needs and preferences.
- Develop and distribute monthly schedules of therapeutic music programs and activities.
- Implement both scheduled and unscheduled music therapy sessions tailored to residents' needs.
- Coordinate and lead facility-wide music events and specialized programs.
- Provide one-on-one music therapy interventions for residents requiring individualized attention.
- Prepare and manage supplies for music therapy programs and maintain inventory.
- Collaborate with staff to escort and transport residents to events and activities.
- Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training sessions.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or related field preferred.
- Licensed Creative Arts Therapist or Certified Music Therapist strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with geriatric populations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing therapeutic music programs.
- Strong documentation skills adhering to regulatory standards.
- Ability to mentor and guide staff and volunteers effectively.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules to meet operational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships.
