Job Description

Overview

  • Lead architectural practice operations, ensuring efficient project execution and resource allocation within the organization.
  • Mentor and develop architectural staff, fostering professional growth and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with firm principals to schedule projects and assign qualified teams based on requirements.
  • Forecast future project schedules to determine staffing needs and ensure resource availability.
  • Hire, onboard, and train new staff, maintaining updated job descriptions and effective recruitment processes.
  • Implement and oversee standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with documented processes and quality assurance practices.
  • Collaborate with operations and technology teams to provide necessary resources for staff performance.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including reviewing timesheets and expense reports for reporting staff.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead architectural staff in project execution, ensuring adherence to client expectations and timelines.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, solving complex project challenges effectively.
  • Collaborate with principals to schedule projects and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Forecast workload and staffing needs, ensuring optimal team composition for project success.
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard new staff, maintaining updated job descriptions and training programs.
  • Develop and implement standards and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with technology and operations teams to ensure staff have necessary tools and resources.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.Arch.) or equivalent degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in architectural practice, with 12 years preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience at the director level within architectural operations.
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling, resource allocation, and team management.
  • Experience in recruiting, onboarding, and training architectural staff.
  • Proficiency in implementing and overseeing operational standards and procedures.
  • Ability to forecast workload and staffing needs effectively.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including document review and approval.
