Job Description

Overview

  • Manage financial operations, including payroll uploads, benefit allocations, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries, maintaining schedules for prepaid expenses, insurance, deferred rent, and fixed assets.
  • Handle month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Monitor funder payments and assist in audits, supporting compliance and transparency in financial processes.
  • Collaborate with team members in a hybrid work environment, balancing independent tasks and teamwork.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills and accounting software to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Contribute to the organization's financial health by ensuring accurate and efficient accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Upload biweekly payroll data and allocate monthly benefits, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Reconcile quarterly 941 forms and manage monthly accrual entries for accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain and update schedules for prepaid expenses, deferred rent, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare journal entries and analyze financial information for general ledger accounts.
  • Handle month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Monitor funder payments and assist in audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and meet organizational goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with 5 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounting software systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
