Overview
- Provide preventative oral health care services as a licensed Dental Hygienist in a clinical setting.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and nutritional counseling for optimal oral health.
- Perform clinical services including dental cleanings, radiographs, scaling, and root planning with local anesthesia.
- Adhere to OSHA standards for infection control and sterilization protocols in the dental environment.
- Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and chart dental findings accurately.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient privacy during all interactions.
- Collaborate with the dental team to deliver high-quality care and improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide dental education by reviewing home care instructions and treatment plans with patients.
- Perform clinical services such as radiographs, cleanings, scaling, and fluoride application.
- Administer therapeutic agents and local anesthesia as needed for dental procedures.
- Follow OSHA standards for infection control, sterilization, and operatory disinfection.
- Collect and update patient medical histories, identifying contraindications and requesting medical clearance.
- Perform oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and chart dental findings accurately.
- Set up and break down operatories and treatment bays before and after each patient.
- Teach patients effective oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
Job Requirements
- Vocational, Technical, or Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene required.
- Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in dental hygiene preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards for infection control and sterilization practices.
- Ability to perform clinical services such as scaling, root planning, and radiographs.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy policies.
- Proof of immunity for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and recent TB test results required.
- Strong communication skills for patient education and collaboration with the dental team.
