Dental Hygienist

Overview

• Provide preventative oral health care services as a licensed Dental Hygienist in a clinical setting.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
• Perform dental cleanings, scaling, and root planning, administering local anesthesia as needed.
• Expose radiographs and dispense fluoride and therapeutic agents for optimal oral health.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, including infection control and sterilization procedures.
• Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and chart dental findings accurately.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the dental team to provide comprehensive care and treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Conduct patient assessments, reviewing medical histories and identifying contraindications for treatment.
• Perform operatory setup and breakdown, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for each patient.
• Administer therapeutic agents and fluoride treatments to enhance oral health.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and the importance of preventative care.
• Follow infection control protocols, including sterilization and operatory disinfection.
• Perform radiographic imaging and interpret results to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and clinical findings.
• Collaborate with the dental team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Job Requirements

• Vocational, Technical, or Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene required.
• Licensure as a Dental Hygienist under the state of Massachusetts mandatory.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and infection control practices essential.
• Ability to perform radiographic imaging and interpret results accurately.
• Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and therapeutic agents.
• Strong communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
• Proof of immunity and recent tuberculosis skin test results required.
