Overview
- Provide clinical and educational dental hygiene services to promote optimal oral health.
- Perform preventative oral care procedures including cleanings, scaling, and fluoride treatments.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and review treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards for infection control and sterilization.
- Conduct oral cancer screenings, perio assessments, and chart dental findings.
- Collect and update patient medical histories, identifying contraindications as necessary.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain current licensure and certifications as required by state regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform dental hygiene procedures including cleanings, scaling, and root planning.
- Administer local anesthesia and therapeutic agents as required.
- Expose radiographs and interpret findings to support dental care plans.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies and nutritional counseling.
- Inspect and sterilize dental instruments ensuring operational readiness.
- Set up and break down operatories and treatment bays for patient procedures.
- Perform screenings and assessments to identify oral health conditions.
- Collaborate with dental team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Job Requirements
- Vocational, Technical, or Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene.
- Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in dental hygiene practices.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards for infection control and sterilization.
- Proficiency in performing oral cancer screenings and perio assessments.
- Ability to educate patients on oral hygiene and nutritional counseling.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protocols.
