Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of patient account billing and collections.
  • Analyze statistical data to measure staff performance and financial targets.
  • Identify trends and recommend process improvements for enhanced workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex billing and payment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement regulations and standards.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for staff to improve competencies.
  • Monitor performance of external agencies and manage vendor partnerships.
  • Prepare departmental reports and participate in special projects as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to financial assistance policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise billing and collection processes for third-party accounts.
  • Resolve routine questions and escalate complex issues to management.
  • Update policies and procedures to address payment discrepancies.
  • Compile and analyze staff productivity and quality data weekly.
  • Conduct training sessions and maintain training materials for staff.
  • Ensure compliance with managed care contract terms and conditions.
  • Lead payer meetings to resolve billing and reimbursement issues.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate new personnel as needed.
  • Prepare and submit departmental goals and objectives.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in patient accounts.
  • Knowledge of hospital billing and third-party reimbursement processes.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment and CTR computer terminals.
  • Medical terminology knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Completion of HBI certification course during onboarding is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for financial operations.
  • Ability to lead and train teams effectively in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
