Overview
- Lead and oversee daily operations of patient account billing and collections.
- Analyze statistical data to measure staff performance and financial targets.
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements for enhanced workflows.
- Provide technical guidance on complex billing and payment activities.
- Ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement regulations and standards.
- Develop and conduct training programs for staff to improve competencies.
- Monitor performance of external agencies and manage vendor partnerships.
- Prepare departmental reports and participate in special projects as needed.
- Maintain adherence to financial assistance policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise billing and collection processes for third-party accounts.
- Resolve routine questions and escalate complex issues to management.
- Update policies and procedures to address payment discrepancies.
- Compile and analyze staff productivity and quality data weekly.
- Conduct training sessions and maintain training materials for staff.
- Ensure compliance with managed care contract terms and conditions.
- Lead payer meetings to resolve billing and reimbursement issues.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate new personnel as needed.
- Prepare and submit departmental goals and objectives.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in patient accounts.
- Knowledge of hospital billing and third-party reimbursement processes.
- Proficiency in using office equipment and CTR computer terminals.
- Medical terminology knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Completion of HBI certification course during onboarding is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for financial operations.
- Ability to lead and train teams effectively in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
