Job Description

Overview

  • Provide physical therapy services to children in an educational setting, following a school calendar schedule.
  • Collaborate with educational staff and families to develop individualized treatment plans for children.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments to determine therapy needs and progress.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Maintain treatment areas and therapy equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Supervise and mentor physical therapy assistants, students, and other supportive staff.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and maintain licensure.
  • Document therapy services accurately for organizational and third-party payer requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement physical therapy intervention plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Conduct screenings and evaluations to gather data for therapy planning.
  • Perform specialized assessments based on specific child requirements.
  • Document therapy sessions and progress reports as per organizational standards.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical codes and professional standards.
  • Supervise and guide physical therapy assistants and other supportive personnel.
  • Ensure therapy equipment and areas are safe and functional.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and enhance expertise.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Active New York State Physical Therapy License meeting required standards.
  • Experience or training in pediatric physical therapy preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy ethics and standards of practice.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor assistants and students effectively.
  • Proficiency in documenting therapy services for compliance and reimbursement.
  • Commitment to professional development and maintaining licensure.
