Overview
- The Senior Accountant role involves managing monthly general ledger close and preparing financial statements with accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with senior management to provide timely financial insights for decision-making processes.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Support audit processes by addressing requests from internal and external auditors.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to interpret company performance.
- Maintain and update work papers for balance sheet accounts, ensuring substantiated journal entries.
- Analyze and reconcile accounts, investigating and correcting inconsistencies in financial entries.
- Contribute to payroll reconciliation and preparation of tax reports at federal, state, and local levels.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage month-end close processes, including payroll posting, accounts receivable, and accruals.
- Perform general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare financial narratives to explain month-end findings and variances.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end payroll reconciliations and tax filings.
- Support audit processes by providing required documentation and addressing inquiries.
- Utilize advanced Excel functions, including V-Lookup and Pivot Tables, for data analysis.
- Collaborate with the Controller to ensure high-volume financial operations are managed effectively.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably with general ledger expertise.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and advanced Excel functions, including V-Lookup and Pivot Tables.
- Experience with Workday software is essential for this role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey financial insights effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal delegation.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control procedures.
- Background in healthcare accounting is a plus but not mandatory.
