Overview

  • Perform precise specimen collection through phlebotomy, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Prepare and label specimens accurately to maintain integrity and facilitate laboratory processing.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles with precision and expertise.
  • Collect, label, centrifuge, and store specimens in accordance with testing protocols.
  • Ensure accurate matching of laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes to prevent errors.
  • Package specimens securely for transport, maintaining their integrity throughout the process.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide laboratory results promptly and accurately.
  • Comply with safety regulations and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment consistently.
  • Contribute to a team-focused environment that prioritizes patient care and operational excellence.
  • Attend annual training sessions for continuous skill enhancement and professional growth.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required for this position.
  • Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience; 2 years preferred for advanced proficiency.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations for laboratory safety and compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills for specimen handling, storage, and transport.
