Overview
- Lead the School Health Services Program, ensuring high-quality care for students across multiple schools.
- Supervise and mentor school nursing staff, fostering professional growth and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote student wellness and academic success.
- Develop and manage Individualized Health Care Plans for students with complex medical needs.
- Ensure compliance with Connecticut Department of Public Health mandates, HIPAA, and FERPA regulations.
- Provide direct nursing care, including emergency response and health screenings.
- Prepare and manage budgets for school health office supplies and equipment.
- Track health trends and provide comprehensive reports to improve health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise and evaluate school nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulations.
- Coordinate orientation and professional development for new and existing nursing staff.
- Develop and implement health care plans for students with chronic and complex needs.
- Conduct mandated health screenings and ensure student immunization compliance.
- Collaborate with school administration, families, and healthcare providers to optimize student care.
- Maintain accurate student health records and oversee compliance with state surveys.
- Provide consultation and support during crisis events and bereavement situations.
- Prepare and manage requisitions for supplies and equipment across the health services program.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and current RN license in Connecticut.
- Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience; three years preferred.
- CPR/AED certification for Professional Rescuers is required.
- Proven leadership experience in clinical or educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of Connecticut school health regulations, HIPAA, and FERPA.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and district leadership.
