Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the operations and staff of perioperative services, including inpatient and outpatient surgical departments, anesthesia, and trauma program.
  • Ensure exceptional patient care through innovative clinical practices and effective management strategies.
  • Collaborate with administration, department directors, and physicians to define service line goals and implement strategic plans.
  • Maintain departmental quality improvement plans to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Oversee budgets for assigned departments, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
  • Develop and sustain a supportive environment for clinical nursing practice and patient care excellence.
  • Promote professional growth and development through education, research, and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Respond to departmental needs by performing additional duties as required.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct and manage clinical and non-clinical staff across multiple surgical and trauma departments.
  • Facilitate hiring, evaluation, and development processes for management and support staff.
  • Develop and implement unit-specific standards, policies, and procedures to support care and services.
  • Analyze financial reports and optimize departmental expenditures and resource utilization.
  • Chair committees and workgroups to enhance interdisciplinary performance improvement programs.
  • Identify patient and family needs, recommending and developing programs to address them.
  • Collaborate on strategic planning initiatives related to patient care and service line development.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards, regulatory agencies, and organizational policies.

Job Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing required; Doctorate in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in surgical environments, with 5 years in progressive management roles.
  • Current California and Nevada RN licenses; CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • CNOR certification preferred; ability to obtain certifications prior to start date.
  • Expert knowledge of nursing theory, practices, and management principles.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and collaboration skills to drive departmental success.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations and maintain focus under pressure.
