Job Description

Overview

  • Provide patient-centered care and support within a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Perform vital patient assessments and document findings accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Assist in promoting efficient clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Deliver health education related to sexual and reproductive healthcare services.
  • Support abortion services through counseling and surgical assistance as needed.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, manage requisitions, and ensure proper lab procedures.
  • Participate in clinic opening and closing duties, including equipment cleaning and supply restocking.
  • Maintain clinical skills through ongoing training and competency checks.
  • Adhere to quality assurance protocols and infection control precautions.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review patient health history and alert providers about critical information.
  • Document patient information competently using appropriate templates and forms.
  • Ensure accurate charge capture and financial reporting through proper documentation.
  • Provide interpreter services for patients with communication barriers.
  • Assist in training new clinic staff and maintaining clinic flow efficiency.
  • Perform laboratory tests, manage lab requisitions, and package samples for transport.
  • Support abortion services, including counseling and surgical assistance.
  • Participate in monthly training sessions and incorporate new knowledge into practice.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications and adhere to clinical skill requirements.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Medical Assistant; two years preferred.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy and experience with Electronic Health Records.
  • Superior customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Flexibility to work non-consecutive days, evenings, or Saturdays.
  • Commitment to health equity and racial justice principles.
  • Adherence to infection control protocols and quality assurance standards.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required and maintained.
  • Interest in expanding knowledge of societal inequities and their impact on healthcare.
