Job Description
Overview
- Perform radiographic procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist and Supervisor, ensuring quality and safety.
- Apply independent judgment and initiative to execute technical procedures for radiologic diagnosis.
- Handle a variety of patient age groups, from newborns to the elderly, with care and professionalism.
- May perform Bone Density exams as part of the role's scope.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Engage in patient education regarding procedures and document relevant information accurately.
- Participate in training new staff and attend departmental meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal radiation safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate radiographic equipment and produce quality images adhering to established protocols.
- Maintain patient records and ensure proper documentation of procedures and complications.
- Assess patients appropriately based on the exam ordered, including screening for pregnancy and reviewing lab values.
- Utilize RIS systems accurately for order management, documentation, and reporting.
- Adhere to infection control and safety practices, including proper use of contrast media.
- Perform non-technical duties such as stocking rooms, transporting patients, and cleaning equipment.
- Participate in department meetings and contribute to special projects as assigned.
- Maintain productivity standards and meet departmental expectations.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Science (AS) degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- ARRT Registry or eligibility with proof of registered status within one year.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and radiology-specific systems.
- Competence in performing quality radiographic procedures independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred: One year of experience in a similar role.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and perform tasks requiring physical effort.
