Overview
- Provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced OB/GYN practice, utilizing licensed practical nursing skills and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical supervisors, and office managers to ensure seamless operations and patient satisfaction.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, administering injections, and obtaining vital signs with precision and attention to detail.
- Assist physicians during exams and procedures, providing necessary instructions and support to patients.
- Maintain and document accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and practice policies.
- Contribute to the upkeep of exam rooms and instruments, including sterilization and inventory management.
- Engage in patient education by distributing teaching literature and addressing inquiries effectively.
- Participate in clinical and staff meetings to stay informed and enhance professional development.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Greet patients warmly and escort them to appropriate areas for clinical services.
- Obtain clinical information, including vital signs, height, weight, and UA functions, ensuring accuracy.
- Perform phlebotomy and administer injections as required, adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures, providing necessary instructions to patients.
- Document patient interactions and telephone conversations in medical records accurately.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness and supply inventory.
- Triage patient calls using approved protocols and provide timely responses.
- Report laboratory results to patients in accordance with practice policies.
Job Requirements
- Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program with certification in IV insertions.
- Minimum of 1 year medical experience, preferably in an OB/GYN setting.
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications are a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficiency in medical record documentation and clinical protocols.
