Job Description

Overview

  • Deliver impactful music therapy sessions to enhance residents' emotional, physical, and social well-being through personalized and group interventions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement tailored care plans addressing residents' therapeutic needs.
  • Plan, organize, and lead engaging music therapy programs and facility-wide events to foster community and participation.
  • Provide adaptive music interventions ensuring inclusivity and maximizing resident engagement and enjoyment.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Mentor and support staff, interns, and volunteers in therapeutic recreation practices and program delivery.
  • Coordinate logistics for recreational outings and events, ensuring seamless execution and resident satisfaction.
  • Engage with residents to assess their music-related interests and therapeutic goals, tailoring interventions accordingly.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine residents' music therapy needs and preferences, revisiting as necessary.
  • Develop and distribute monthly schedules for music therapy programs, ensuring a diverse and engaging lineup of activities.
  • Lead both scheduled and impromptu music therapy sessions, adapting to residents' immediate needs and interests.
  • Coordinate and execute large-scale music events and specialized programs, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.
  • Provide individualized music therapy interventions for residents requiring focused therapeutic attention.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of music therapy supplies, ensuring readiness for all activities.
  • Collaborate with staff to facilitate residents' participation in events, including transportation and support.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and complete required training to stay aligned with best practices and standards.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Music Therapist or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in music therapy, particularly with geriatric populations.
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective therapeutic music programs.
  • Strong skills in documentation and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Effective mentoring and guidance capabilities for staff and volunteers.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varied schedules and operational needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships with residents and teams.
