Overview

  • Provide essential clinical nursing support in a dynamic healthcare environment, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to established protocols.
  • Assist practitioners with examinations, minor surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations following nursing standards and organizational guidelines.
  • Perform vital signs assessments, patient education, and documentation to support comprehensive care delivery.
  • Maintain clinical equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and effective communication.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control measures.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Screen, discharge, interview, counsel, and teach patients, documenting observations in medical records.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and specific orders including immunizations and inhalation treatments.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures like EKGs, hearing tests, and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Order and maintain medications, immunizations, and supplies, ensuring accurate records of controlled substances.
  • Process laboratory tests and referrals, retrieving reports for practitioner review.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and organize supplies in examination rooms.
  • Follow up on abnormal lab results and missed appointments, ensuring patient care continuity.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and infection control standards.
  • Participate in meetings and report issues to the Unit Manager promptly.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma and graduation from an approved School of Practical Nursing.
  • Valid LPN License in New York State.
  • Healthcare delivery experience; willing to train recent graduates.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records software and Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a busy clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of infection control measures and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within LPN scope.
  • Commitment to professional development and adherence to safety protocols.
