Overview
- Lead financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies in a dynamic hybrid work environment.
- Prepare and analyze journal entries, maintaining schedules for expenses, insurance, deferred rent, and fixed assets.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor funder payments and support audits to uphold compliance and transparency in financial processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and improve accounting practices.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills and accounting software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to the organization's financial health by implementing effective accounting strategies.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Upload biweekly payroll data and allocate monthly benefits, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Reconcile quarterly 941 forms and manage monthly accrual entries for accurate reporting.
- Maintain and update schedules for prepaid expenses, deferred rent, and fixed assets.
- Prepare journal entries and analyze financial information for general ledger accounts.
- Handle month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, meeting deadlines effectively.
- Monitor funder payments and assist in audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and achieve organizational goals.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with 5 years preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with accounting software systems is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and ability to meet deadlines.
- Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
