Overview
- Lead cost accounting initiatives, ensuring accurate manufacturing and inventory cost analysis across multiple business units.
- Develop and refine costing models to optimize operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial insights with operational strategies.
- Provide actionable recommendations to enhance cost management and reduce inefficiencies.
- Support month-end close processes and inventory reconciliations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Travel to manufacturing sites to understand local processes and build relationships.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting exercises related to inventory and COGS.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Work in a remote setting with occasional travel for team meetings and site visits.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform cost and variance analysis for purchasing and manufacturing operations.
- Build and maintain robust costing models from the ground up.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and identify trends, inefficiencies, and outliers.
- Manage inventory controls and related accounting processes.
- Collaborate with operations teams to confirm inventory balances and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end inventory reconciliations and audits to ensure compliance.
- Partner with Finance and Operations teams to support month-end close processes.
- Travel to manufacturing sites to gain firsthand knowledge of processes and build relationships.
- Support automation and standardization of cost reporting across entities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing and inventory costing methods.
- Proven ability to build and optimize cost models from scratch.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems like NetSuite or SAP.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% for site visits.
- Experience in the cannabis industry is highly desirable.
