Overview
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in an ambulatory care setting, addressing patient needs and promoting health maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan and achieve patient care goals effectively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth principles and assess patient requirements across various age groups.
- Coordinate care plans for LGBTQ youth at the Ali Forney Center, including access to PrEP and PEP.
- Perform triage for sick and walk-in patients, ensuring timely and appropriate care delivery.
- Promote patient safety and infection control in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Participate in professional development and continuing education to enhance nursing competencies.
- Supervise and mentor LPNs, Medical Assistants, and Nursing students to foster a supportive work environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assess, diagnose, plan, and intervene in health problems, evaluating patient responses to care.
- Educate patients and families to enable informed participation in care and decision-making.
- Monitor patient flow and reassign staff as needed to optimize care delivery.
- Record, report, and interpret patient responses, collaborating with healthcare team members.
- Ensure cost-effective utilization of resources while maintaining high-quality care standards.
- Participate in special projects and committees to improve healthcare practices.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, licensure, and annual health assessment requirements.
- Demonstrate competence in utilizing information systems and nursing policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in ambulatory, medical surgery, or ER settings; 3 years preferred.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State with current RN registration certificate.
- Current BCLS, Infection Control, and Child Abuse certifications required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications, including immunizations.
- Proficiency in clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred to enhance patient communication.
- Commitment to professional development through relevant continuing education programs.
