Overview

  • Provide exceptional perioperative nursing care in a high-efficiency outpatient surgery center specializing in orthopedic procedures.
  • Coordinate patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring safety and adherence to standards.
  • Work collaboratively in a dynamic environment committed to excellence in surgical care and patient advocacy.
  • Maintain sterility, safety, and evidence-based practices in all operating room activities.
  • Document all aspects of patient care, intraoperative activity, and supply utilization accurately.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts within the surgery center.
  • Monitor and ensure readiness of equipment, emergency supplies, and medications.
  • Participate in a tenured team with minimal turnover, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Serve as the circulating nurse for orthopedic surgical cases in a high-efficiency outpatient setting.
  • Perform pre-operative assessments and ensure accurate surgical case setup.
  • Coordinate intraoperative care in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams.
  • Advocate for patient safety throughout the intraoperative process.
  • Document surgical procedures, medication administration, and intraoperative events per policy.
  • Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques, sterile processing, and infection control standards.
  • Communicate clinical concerns promptly to leadership and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain readiness of all surgical equipment and supplies.

Job Requirements

  • Current and unencumbered California RN License (required).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a circulating nurse in hospital or outpatient surgical settings; orthopedic experience preferred.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required upon hire.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterile processing, and infection control standards.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality.
