Overview

  • The Billing Specialist role involves preparing accurate and compliant invoices for government contracts.
  • This is a hybrid position with two days onsite and three days remote work weekly.
  • The position is contract-based with potential for extension or full-time conversion.
  • Candidates should have expertise in government contract compliance and ERP systems.
  • The role requires collaboration with project managers, finance teams, and auditors.
  • Start date is immediate, with a focus on delivering high-quality billing services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare invoices for various government contract types, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Reconcile labor, costs, and indirect burdens, and submit invoices through government systems.
  • Maintain detailed billing files and audit-ready documentation for reviews and audits.
  • Generate AR aging reports and support collections efforts as required.
  • Coordinate with AP, payroll, and subcontract management for accurate cost flow.
  • Validate billable costs and funding status with project managers.
  • Communicate with contracting officers and internal stakeholders to resolve billing issues.
  • Ensure invoices meet formatting, documentation, and approval requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of billing experience in government contracting or professional services.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint and understanding of indirect rate structures.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific regulations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
