Tax Senior Overview

  • As a Tax Senior, lead tax compliance and accounting operations, ensuring adherence to regulations and accurate financial reporting.
  • Drive impactful tax planning initiatives, identifying opportunities for efficiency and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for diverse entities, ensuring compliance.
  • Maintain fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations for accurate reporting.
  • Research and interpret tax regulations, providing actionable recommendations and documentation.
  • Support audits and respond to IRS/state notices to resolve tax-related issues effectively.
  • Assist with tax provision calculations, compliance processes, extensions, and estimated payments.

Tax Senior Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and review tax filings for individuals, partnerships, and corporations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage bookkeeping and financial reporting, maintaining accurate ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements and schedules.
  • Research and analyze tax laws, documenting conclusions and providing actionable insights.
  • Respond to tax-related inquiries, supporting audits and resolving notices efficiently.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to enhance tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for tax planning and process improvements.
  • Utilize advanced tax and accounting software to streamline operations and ensure accuracy.

Tax Senior Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA or CPA track preferred.
  • 3–8 years of tax and accounting experience, ideally in public accounting.
  • Proficiency in federal and state tax compliance, including ASC 740 concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Expertise in tax and accounting software such as CCH, ProSystem fx, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to manage complex tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy in operations.
