Job Description

Alternative Operations Associate Overview

  • The Alternative Operations Associate will support private credit and alternative investment operations, focusing on loan-based financings, preferred equity, and bespoke structures.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, account managers, and external service providers to ensure accurate settlement and reporting of private loan investments.
  • Engage in lifecycle management of private and originated loan trades, including settlement oversight and funding coordination.
  • Provide expertise in credit agreement interpretation, loan accruals, and deal maintenance to support insurance and reinsurance clients.
  • Enhance operational controls and oversee non-standard alternative transactions across the organization.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Liaise with vendors and custodians to support service enhancements and new product solutions.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and special projects to drive organizational success.

Alternative Operations Associate Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support settlement and lifecycle management of private and originated loan trades, including loan-based financing and preferred equity.
  • Provide operational coverage for portfolio managers, including deal settlement, funding coordination, and cash movements.
  • Review and interpret credit agreements to operationalize key terms, including accrual mechanics and payment schedules.
  • Educate service providers and internal partners on deal mechanics and structuring.
  • Support complex loan amendments, restructurings, and other non-standard lifecycle events.
  • Collaborate with account managers to address trade booking inquiries and reporting needs.
  • Enhance controls and oversight for alternative transactions and bespoke loan financings.
  • Manage cross-functional projects focused on process improvement and workflow development.
  • Engage with vendors and custodians to support service upgrades and new product solutions.

Alternative Operations Associate Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of operational experience in private and direct originated debt or equity.
  • Strong knowledge of loan-based products, including term loans, revolvers, and delayed draws.
  • Hands-on experience with credit agreements, loan accruals, and deal maintenance.
  • Familiarity with private equity fund frameworks and alternative investment structures.
  • Proficient in Excel for analyzing large data sets efficiently.
  • Proven track record in managing complex securities and financing instruments.
  • Experience with fund accounting and lifecycle event recording for various asset classes.
  • Ability to manage relationships with custody and accounting service providers.
