Medical Assistant Overview

- Perform diagnostic screenings, phlebotomy, and specimen collection with precision and care.
- Maintain and prepare examination rooms, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
- Document patient information accurately using electronic medical records systems to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Contribute to the organization’s Tuberculosis screening program as part of patient-facing responsibilities.
- Work within established quality standards while exercising discretion and prioritizing tasks effectively.
Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Discuss patient symptoms and obtain vital signs during clinical visits.
- Administer medications and vaccines in compliance with certification and guidelines.
- Perform phlebotomy and diagnostic tests with a focus on accuracy and patient comfort.
- Ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and fully equipped for patient care.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive and patient-centered care.
- Accurately document patient information in electronic medical records systems.
- Travel locally as needed, with mileage reimbursement provided for work-related travel.
- Adhere to standard policies and procedures, exercising independent discretion when necessary.
Medical Assistant Job Requirements
- Associate of Arts degree or equivalent educational background is required.
- Completion of a certified Medical Assistant training program is mandatory.
- CPR certification is a prerequisite for this position.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant is required, with 2 years preferred.
- Proficiency in medication/vaccine administration and phlebotomy is highly desirable.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous for this role.
- Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience is preferred.
- Availability for on-site work and local travel as required.
