Medical Assistant Overview

  • The Medical Assistant role offers a dynamic opportunity to provide essential clinical support in a patient-focused healthcare environment.
  • Engage in meaningful patient interactions, including discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, and administering medications or vaccines.
  • Perform diagnostic screenings, phlebotomy, and specimen collection with precision and care.
  • Maintain and prepare examination rooms, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patient care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
  • Document patient information accurately using electronic medical records systems to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Contribute to the organization’s Tuberculosis screening program as part of patient-facing responsibilities.
  • Work within established quality standards while exercising discretion and prioritizing tasks effectively.

Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Discuss patient symptoms and obtain vital signs during clinical visits.
  • Administer medications and vaccines in compliance with certification and guidelines.
  • Perform phlebotomy and diagnostic tests with a focus on accuracy and patient comfort.
  • Ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and fully equipped for patient care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive and patient-centered care.
  • Accurately document patient information in electronic medical records systems.
  • Travel locally as needed, with mileage reimbursement provided for work-related travel.
  • Adhere to standard policies and procedures, exercising independent discretion when necessary.

Medical Assistant Job Requirements

  • Associate of Arts degree or equivalent educational background is required.
  • Completion of a certified Medical Assistant training program is mandatory.
  • CPR certification is a prerequisite for this position.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant is required, with 2 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in medication/vaccine administration and phlebotomy is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous for this role.
  • Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience is preferred.
  • Availability for on-site work and local travel as required.
