Grants and Senior Projects Accountant Overview

  • The Grants and Senior Projects Accountant will oversee financial administration for a portfolio of sponsored awards, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • This role involves budget monitoring, forecasting, invoicing, and financial reporting to support organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with program and finance leadership to address financial risks and variances effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance and sponsor requirements in all financial activities.
  • Contribute to internal control improvements and audit readiness across the grants portfolio.
  • Support financial audits, including Uniform Guidance Single Audit and funder desk audits.

Grants and Senior Projects Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage financial administration for sponsored awards, including budget monitoring, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Review expenditures for compliance with Uniform Guidance and sponsor requirements.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, ensuring accurate expense posting and payroll allocation adjustments.
  • Monitor grant reconciliations and address unallowable costs promptly.
  • Prepare grant invoices, track payments, and manage outstanding receivables.
  • Enhance internal controls and documentation to strengthen audit readiness.
  • Assist with financial audits and provide guidance on grant accounting and compliance requirements.

Grants and Senior Projects Accountant Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in grant accounting or related fields.
  • Proficiency in nonprofit accounting principles and compliance requirements.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with ERP/financial systems like Sage Intacct or Workday.
  • Ability to prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and Federal funding compliance requirements.
