Job Description

Pharmacy Technician Overview

  • The Pharmacy Technician will support healthcare providers by managing prior authorization requests and providing exceptional customer service.
  • This is a remote contract role with a duration through April 2027, offering a structured training program.
  • Candidates must hold an active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT).
  • The role involves phone-heavy responsibilities and requires excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Work schedules are 10 AM – 7 PM CST, with training scheduled from 8 AM – 5 PM CST.
  • The position requires compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Candidates must reside in one of the approved states listed in the job description.

Pharmacy Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Serve as the initial contact for healthcare providers regarding prior authorization inquiries and submissions.
  • Utilize tools to determine eligibility, screen documents, and process prior authorization requests.
  • Organize and distribute prior authorization requests for review by pharmacists or physicians.
  • Collect and document relevant medical information while applying appropriate criteria.
  • Ensure timely decision-making and escalate cases requiring pharmacist review as needed.
  • Communicate prior authorization outcomes in compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Participate in group training sessions and adhere to training schedules and guidelines.

Pharmacy Technician Job Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy-related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in customer service, phone etiquette, and typing skills is required.
  • Experience with prior authorization processes and call center environments is preferred.
  • Ability to work remotely within an approved state of residency.
