Job Description

Patient Liaison Overview

  • The Patient Liaison will oversee patient recruitment efforts, ensuring efficient enrollment and supporting clinical trial processes.
  • Lead a team of four Patient Recruiters, driving recruitment goals and performance metrics.
  • Conduct pre-qualification, pre-screening, and scheduling activities to optimize patient enrollment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to evaluate patient eligibility for clinical studies.
  • Manage patient communication, including follow-ups, reminders, and addressing barriers to study entry.
  • Utilize Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) for patient data management and reporting.
  • Represent the organization in community outreach events to promote clinical trial awareness.
  • Support the training and development of new and existing team members.

Patient Liaison Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Execute patient pre-screening and ensure smooth transitions into active studies.
  • Evaluate patient eligibility through interviews, medical record reviews, and staff discussions.
  • Manage patient schedules, including appointment reminders and rescheduling as needed.
  • Track and optimize no-show and disqualified patient data for process improvement.
  • Handle inbound physician referrals and maintain referral partner relationships.
  • Participate in local outreach events to educate patients about clinical trials.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines when handling patient health information.
  • Support recruitment leadership by reporting barriers and challenges to patient screening.

Patient Liaison Job Requirements

  • Associate of Science (AS) degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in healthcare, call center, or medical research environments.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) and calendar management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including email and electronic health records.
  • Experience in patient recruitment or clinical trial coordination is advantageous.
