Registered Nurse Overview
- The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care and treatment to clients within a behavioral health-focused program.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Conduct initial and ongoing health assessments, including vitals and physical health evaluations.
- Deliver medical case management and medication administration in accordance with prescribed orders.
- Promote healthy lifestyle changes through education and shared decision-making practices.
- Provide health education and training to clients and staff to ensure continuous support.
- Act as a liaison between clients, healthcare providers, and community organizations to coordinate care.
- Respond to medical emergencies and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Carry a caseload and perform regular nursing assessments for assigned clients.
- Administer prescribed medications, including long-acting injections, and monitor for side effects.
- Coordinate and deliver medications to client residences or shelters as needed.
- Make referrals, schedule appointments, and accompany clients to medical visits when required.
- Provide advocacy and follow-up care for hospitalized clients to ensure recovery.
- Document all client interactions and maintain accurate records within electronic health systems.
- Monitor lab results and communicate findings to medical providers for necessary adjustments.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as the medical representative.
- Train staff on health practices and emergency response procedures.
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with New York State registration.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience; 2 years preferred, especially in behavioral health.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of medical case management and medication administration.
- Ability to work on-site and conduct community-based visits as required.
- Experience in a residential or mental health setting is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with clients, staff, and external providers.
