Tax Director Overview
- The Tax Director will lead all tax-related functions, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax strategies for a multi-state organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide expert tax guidance and support organizational goals.
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timely submissions.
- Develop and implement tax efficiency initiatives aligned with company objectives.
- Provide tax advisory support for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects.
- Stay updated on evolving tax regulations to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
- Support financial reporting processes, including tax provision disclosures under U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with external advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Contribute to the company's growth by enhancing internal tax processes and systems.
Tax Director Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns.
- Oversee compliance for sales, payroll, and real estate taxes across jurisdictions.
- Prepare and review tax provision disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 740).
- Conduct tax research and analysis to support business initiatives and compliance.
- Provide tax advisory support for M&A transactions, including due diligence and structuring.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial statement presentation.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize efficiency and compliance.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Enhance internal processes to improve accuracy and efficiency in tax functions.
Tax Director Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax experience; 8 years preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 740, and federal/state tax compliance.
- Experience with multi-state or multi-entity organizations is advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage complex tax filings and projects independently.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments.
- Preferred candidates located in the Tri-state area for collaboration purposes.
