Nurse Manager Surgical Services Overview

  • The Nurse Manager Surgical Services oversees perioperative operations, ensuring exceptional patient care and staff engagement.
  • Lead a team of 55+ clinical and support staff across four operating rooms and perioperative areas.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize surgical outcomes and patient flow.
  • Work in a dynamic healthcare environment offering professional growth opportunities.
  • Shape strategic growth initiatives and implement evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as Joint Commission and OSHA.
  • Monitor budgets and promote cost-effective practices within the surgical services department.
  • Develop and oversee process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and clinical outcomes.

Nurse Manager Surgical Services Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide daily operational and clinical oversight of perioperative services, including Pre-op, Operating Room, and PACU.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a strong team of clinical and support staff.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other teams to optimize patient care.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards and best practices in perioperative care.
  • Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and supply management for surgical services.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and implement cost-effective practices.
  • Lead initiatives to improve workflow, scheduling, and clinical outcomes.

Nurse Manager Surgical Services Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; CNOR certification preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of perioperative nursing experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of AORN standards and perioperative best practices.
  • Proven track record of improving clinical outcomes using evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and implement cost-effective practices.
  • Experience in overseeing scheduling, resource allocation, and supply management.
