Senior Accountant Overview

• The Senior Accountant role focuses on managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Collaborate with leadership to provide actionable financial insights for strategic decision-making.
• Oversee monthly general ledger close processes and prepare accurate financial statements.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory compliance across all accounting activities.
• Support audit processes by preparing documentation and addressing inquiries from auditors.
• Prepare and analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Maintain detailed work papers for balance sheet accounts and substantiate journal entries.
• Contribute to payroll reconciliation and tax reporting at federal, state, and local levels.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions for data analysis and financial reporting.

Senior Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Manage month-end close processes, including payroll posting, accounts receivable, and accruals.
• Perform reconciliations of general ledger and sub-ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare financial narratives to explain findings and variances in monthly reports.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Conduct quarterly and year-end payroll reconciliations and prepare tax filings.
• Support audit processes by providing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions, including V-Lookup and Pivot Tables, for financial analysis.
• Collaborate with the Controller to manage high-volume financial operations effectively.
• Investigate and resolve inconsistencies in financial entries and account reconciliations.

Senior Accountant Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior accounting roles; 7 years preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and advanced Excel functions, including V-Lookup and Pivot Tables.
• Experience with Workday software is essential for this position.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey financial insights effectively.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal supervision.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control procedures.
• Background in healthcare accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile complex financial data accurately.
