Infusion Nurse Overview

Infusion Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Administer IV infusion therapies and specialty medications to patients in an outpatient setting.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments before, during, and after treatments.
• Initiate and maintain IV access, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide timely interventions as needed.
• Educate patients on their treatment plans and medication protocols.
• Document all patient interactions and procedures accurately within the EMR system.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to optimize patient care outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.

Infusion Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with strong IV insertion and infusion experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; 3 years preferred.
• Experience in infusion, oncology, ICU, ED, rheumatology, GI, or ambulatory care is highly desirable.
• Proficient communication, assessment, and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work on-site with occasional Saturday shifts in designated locations.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and documentation standards.
