Mental Health Coordinator Overview
- The Mental Health Coordinator oversees the daily operations of the Mental Health Program, ensuring clinical, social, and supportive service needs are met effectively.
- Provides direct supervision to program staff, coordinating case management and care planning activities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Conducts social work assessments, facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration, and communicates with leadership regarding program operations and quality outcomes.
- Ensures accurate documentation of mental health services in compliance with Department of Health and Office of Mental Health requirements.
- Collaborates with community mental health practitioners and external service providers to ensure continuity of care for clients.
- Coordinates transportation services to ensure safe and timely access to program activities for participants.
- Promotes community relations by developing collaborative relationships with behavioral health providers and social service organizations.
- Serves as a team leader during emergencies, coordinating with healthcare professionals to address client needs effectively.
Mental Health Coordinator Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Coordinate all aspects of the Mental Health Program, including intake evaluations, attendance monitoring, and activity evaluation.
- Provide direct supervision and oversight of program staff, ensuring assignments are completed appropriately and timely.
- Complete initial and ongoing social work and mental health assessments for program participants.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary care planning meetings, ensuring care plans are person-centered and individualized.
- Monitor program performance and report operational issues to leadership for resolution.
- Provide orientation and training for new staff, interns, and volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to support program participants.
- Collaborate with transportation staff to optimize schedules and ensure client access to services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies to promote coordination of care and resource utilization.
Mental Health Coordinator Job Requirements
- Master of Social Work degree required; LMSW licensure mandatory, LCSW or LMHC preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in adult behavioral health or mental health settings.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience in social work or behavioral health services.
- Proficiency in coordinating case management, care planning, and entitlement services for program participants.
- Strong knowledge of Department of Health and Office of Mental Health regulations and documentation standards.
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with external service providers effectively.
- Experience in program administration, including staff oversight and operational monitoring.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure program success and client satisfaction.
