Fiduciary Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and file Federal and state estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns.
- Develop estate and trust accountings for judicial settlement in Surrogate’s Court.
- Conduct estate and gift tax planning, including computations for trusts and charitable entities.
- Maintain and update estate and trust accounts and tax records.
- Respond to IRS and state audit inquiries, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate directly with attorneys to address fiduciary accounting needs.
- Utilize advanced accounting software for efficient tax preparation and reporting.
- Adhere to firm policies and security protocols to protect sensitive information.
Fiduciary Accountant Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in estate and trust environments, preferably in a law firm.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, OMEGA accounting software, and Wolters Kluwer Pro Systems tax software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
