Dental Assistant Overview

  • The Dental Assistant will provide essential support to dentists and hygienists, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.
  • This role involves chairside assistance, infection control, and patient interaction to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • You will utilize four-handed assisting techniques and perform radiographic procedures adhering to established protocols.

  • Contribute to the organization and maintenance of dental supplies, equipment, and patient records.
  • Engage in oral health education for patients and community groups to promote dental health awareness.

Dental Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Act as a chairside assistant to dentists and hygienists using four-handed techniques.
  • Take dental radiographs following proper radiographic protocols and standards.
  • Perform infection control procedures in compliance with OSHA and clinic policies.
  • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments, ensuring readiness for procedures.
  • Assist with dental laboratory tasks, including pouring impressions and trimming models.
  • Maintain and organize dental operatories and manage inventory of supplies.
  • Support the dental reception area, including scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Educate patients and community groups on oral health practices and benefits.
  • Report any operational issues to the supervisor promptly and professionally.

Dental Assistant Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required for this position.
  • Dental Assistant Certification from an accredited training school is mandatory.
  • Minimum of one year of chairside dental experience; two years preferred.
  • Proficiency in infection control and radiographic techniques is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage dental supplies and equipment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations; bilingual Spanish-speaking is a plus.
  • Ability to educate patients on oral health and hygiene effectively.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, respect, and a patient-focused approach.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
