Tax Scheduler Overview

  • The Tax Scheduler will manage tax workflow coordination and scheduling within a dynamic tax department.
  • Ensure timely progression of tax engagements through filing seasons and compliance cycles.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to balance workloads and optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain and monitor tax workflow management systems for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Track critical deadlines for various tax-related projects and communicate proactively.
  • Coordinate client meetings, tax planning sessions, and internal review schedules.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a liaison between tax professionals, administrative staff, and clients.

Tax Scheduler Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Coordinate scheduling and assignment of tax returns and related projects across the team.
  • Monitor tax return statuses and ensure timely delivery to clients.
  • Track and manage deadlines for various tax entities, including individuals and businesses.
  • Generate and distribute workflow, production, and capacity reports.
  • Assist with staffing plans and scheduling adjustments during peak periods.
  • Coordinate intake of client documents and route information appropriately.
  • Follow up on engagement statuses and outstanding items with tax professionals.
  • Maintain engagement tracking spreadsheets and workflow software records.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to streamline operations and enhance turnaround times.

Tax Scheduler Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with 2+ years of relevant experience in administrative or scheduling roles.
  • Experience in public accounting, tax, legal, or professional services environments is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with workflow and practice management systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
