Overview

  • Provide remote pharmacy technician services, focusing on prior authorization processes and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in determining eligibility and processing pharmacy prior authorization requests using industry-standard tools.
  • Engage in phone-heavy communication to collect medical information and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and physicians to address additional information requests and escalate cases as needed.
  • Deliver timely and accurate prior authorization outcome notifications adhering to standards.
  • Participate in structured group training sessions to develop necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Work within a defined schedule, ensuring adherence to training and operational timelines.
  • Contribute to the success of a remote team serving multiple states across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Utilize tools to determine eligibility and screen required documents for pharmacy prior authorization requests.
  • Prepare and distribute authorization requests for pharmacist/physician review, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Collect and document medical information via telephone, fax, and portals, applying appropriate criteria.
  • Ensure decision-making timeframes are met, escalating cases requiring pharmacist review promptly.
  • Communicate authorization outcomes orally and in writing, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing pharmacy practices.
  • Participate in training sessions to ensure proficiency in role-specific tasks and tools.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and phone etiquette in a call center environment.

Job Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a pharmacy-related field; 3 years preferred.
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree required.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication and interpersonal interactions.
  • Experience in call center environments and phone-heavy roles is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable with remote work and capable of managing tasks independently.
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail in documentation.
  • Availability to adhere to training schedules and operational timelines.
